Can you tell me more about finding a career as an aircraft engineer?

Yes, we’ve created a page to help you understand more about aircraft engineer careers. This includes information on licensed aircraft maintenance engineer licences and type ratings.

How can I contact you?

I can't confirm my account - why?

You should receive an email in which is a link which you need to click to confirm your details.

If you haven't received this email, go to your home page and click to request this again. Be sure to check your Junk Mail as it might be going there. The email may be considered as spam by some vigilant software too! If this is the case you could try using a different email account?

What's an ‘Aircraft Type History’?

This is for maintenance engineers and technicians.

On this site, once you've uploaded your CV, you can then create an overview of your employment in aircraft maintenance. We call this your 'Aircraft Type History'.

So, your Aircraft Type History supports and complements your CV.

This is what you complete for yourself:

  • Aircraft Type

  • Area [line, base etc]

  • Mechanic/Technician or LAME

  • Skill area

  • Licence Type

  • Licence Category

  • Full licence

  • Years certifying

It's been built with you in mind, to create a useful store for information about your own maintenance career. It's based on the aircraft you've worked on, as well as details including whether it was on line, in avionics or A&C, and how many years authorising CRS you have.

To start your own Aircraft Type History you simply need to register.

More information about your Aircraft Type History

What's the benefit of creating my own Aircraft Type History?

As a brief, but complete, career profile which can be instantly accessed and updated at any time your history is a really useful complement to your CV.

Of course, you can also allow your history to be viewed by potential employers and recruitment agencies. They'll be searching this information to find the perfect candidate. So it's really worth keeping it up to date if you want to be found by prospective employers.

Can you tell me if my aerospace job application has been received?

Unfortunately, we can’t confirm that an application has been received. Because we are not the employer or recruitment agency who advertised the aerospace job you applied to we don't receive the applications.

However, we do carefully make sure that all applications are sent to the correct email address or web site address that our customers give to us. And if you ever wish to check your application has been sent, we've built a section so you can easily do this - see your own 'Application History' in your Candidate Login area.

Once sent, your application will be received by our client and responded to by them. If you do not hear from them we would suggest you can assume you have not been successful. Sometimes this can be because applicants do not meet the absolute minimum requirements for a position.

Can I send you guys at AircraftEngineers.com my CV? There are no email addresses on this site for you!

We deliberately don’t put our email address on this site. It's because we used to be inundated with CVs. And, the short of it is, we cannot employ you or anyone else... but our clients can.

How do I attach a photograph to my CV?

Firstly, it's highly unlikely that an application for an aerospace engineer job will require a photo! In fact, busy recruiters prefer simple CVs. So the less unnecessary clutter the better. That goes for styling too. Your experience is what they want to see, not an interesting array of font styles.

When sending my CV I get an error every time. Why is this?

This is almost certainly because your CV is too large. By that, we mean it is over the permissible file size of 700KB. We restrict large files because our clients do not wish to receive files over 1MB.

To find out why your file is too big we recommend you look at two regular problems:

i. you have inserted a very large image. You need to make it smaller (or better still just remove it altogether)
ii. You have used complicated styling (graphics, borders, colours etc). We think this is unnecessary anyway

How do I know how large my CV is?

To work out how large any file is (your CV, an image etc) you need to find it in your PC’s system. Put your cursor over it, right click your mouse, choose properties. It will tell you the size.

I still get an error and my file is definitely beneath 750K. What’s the problem now?

As stated on the site we can only accept certain file types. These are doc, htm, html, txt, rtf, pdf. Microsoft Word is the most common word processor in the world. With Word you can create doc and rtf files. Notepad will create txt files.

If your CV is saved as a different file type you will need to open it, click on file, choose save as, and in File Type choose doc, htm, html, txt or rtf (rich text format).

EU Status - how do I get the right to work in the EU

With regard to the EU status - it means you need to have the right to live and work in the EU. The EU is the countries in Europe who are members of the European Union. Like a Green Card in the States allows you to work in the US, EU rights enables you to legally seek employment in those member countries.
