Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a Lead Design Engineer to work in Southampton, Hampshire on Composite and Metallic structures within the Aerospace industry.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Manage a team of Design Engineers to produce aircraft design solutions meeting customer requirements, quality, timescale and cost.
Essential Responsibilities :
Responsible to the Head Of Design
Working as part of a team, often deployed to multidisciplinary projects, that ensures structural integrity of an airframe product.
Responsible for the delivery of; design schemes and detail drawings through the Design Review process, working in conjunction with other technical departments, manufacturing, suppliers and, the customer.
Design project management, including resource, programme and budgets.
Design estimates and bid preparation.
Technically liaise with current and new project participants, supply base and other sub-contract organisations and individuals.
Design support to Manufacturing by clearing day to day problems
Support on-going continuous improvement initiatives, the development of personnel and design processes.
Prepared to work offsite for periods of time when required to meet project needs
Qualifications/Requirements :
Aircraft structural design experience, in composite structures.
Knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
The ability to assess structural problems in high-pressure environments whilst maintaining engineering integrity.
Working knowledge of Catia V5 would be advantageous
Good people management, communication and presentation skills.
Qualification is experience related, minimum HNC Mechanical or equivalent level of knowledge or experience
The successful candidate will hold / have held Signatory status.
