Job Title: Skilled Mechanical Fitter
Department: Transmissions and Mechanical Parts Centre of Excellence
Rate: £16.50 Ltd per hour
Duration: 3 Months+ (Rolling contracts, possibly up to 1 year)

An opportunity has arisen within the Transmissions and Mechanical Parts Centre of Excellence for a Skilled Fitter report to the Production Supervisor. You will work as part of a shift team undertaking fitting activities associated with strip and build and repair on a variety of transmissions units. You will follow a detailed Training plan to become a dual skilled Fitter Inspector.
Main responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Work with defined processes and systems to ensure that Strip and Build activities are undertaken in line with the company and customer quality requirements.
- Undertake training to achieve approval for various special processes.
- Carry out inspection activities as dictated by your registered scope of approvals subject to appropriate training.
- Work in accordance with the Company Operating System, Departmental Instructions and Shop Supervision to ensure the most effective use of labour to manage the requirements of the workload.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- An Engineering Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline.
- Experience of working as a mechanical fitter in an appropriate industry.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Flexible with the ability to work either on your own, or as part of a shift team and meet departmental build requirements.
- Willingness to become involved with improvement teams and activities.
- Willing to undertake training to improve competence levels in support of departmental activities and to Fitter Inspector status.
