Technical Lead/Chief Engineer Vehicle Application
Salary Package To £68,000 + benefits
Location: Loughborough relocation package available.

They are currently recruiting a Technical Lead/Chief Engineer Vehicle Applications.
The Technical Lead/Chief Engineer will lead the specification, design, prototyping and development of power systems for automotive vehicles, based on the AC family of fuel cell systems. The opportunity is for a Lead Technical expert to assist in developing the technical and commercial relationship with OEMs. To feed the needs of the automotive vehicle applications into core systems development and operational manufacturing processes.
Key Technical Lead/Chief Engineer Accountabilities will be responsible for the specification, design, prototyping and development of power systems for automotive vehicles, based on the AC family of fuel cell systems. You will define and implement technical support and problem-solving programmes for vehicle reliability trials in the UK. You will at all times liaise with personnel of partners as appropriate and ensuring that vehicle and system demos are available at short notice to support an active PR and business development programme.
You will establish effective working relationships with company specialists in R&T, test, manufacturing engineering and procurement, be they in the UK, the US or elsewhere. Communicate and negotiate technical issues clearly and accurately between the customer and companies internal teams, presenting an image of professionalism and integrity to both. The appointed Technical Lead will manage the overall Functional System, Subsystem Requirement documents and Test Plans or partners. You will ensure that the company R&T, design, test and manufacturing development programmes are set up to deliver to the Requirements. In particular, focus on driving the right standards of performance, reliability and manufacturing cost into the automotive vehicle prototypes and on driving novel and creative solutions to mechanical, fluids and electronic system integration problems on the vehicles.
You will need to ensure a high standard of technical quality and accuracy in bills of materials, documents, drawings, tests, reports and at all times operating an efficient technical change management process. Protecting and developing all the Intellectual Property position with partners.
Essential Qualifications:
Good engineering or physics degree. Postgraduate qualification would be desirable but not essential
Essential Experience: A Minimum 5 years in technical leadership of product development programmes in the arenas of fuel cells, power systems or consumer electronics, ideally we would welcome your application if you are currently or previously employed with and automotive manufacturer.
Essential Skills required: Proficient at Microsoft Office tools or equivalent. You should have an understanding of pipeline & instrumentation schematics for fluid / mechanical systems and be well versed in the principles of Systems Engineering- Requirements Management, concept and architecture definition, optimisation through trade-studies, verification planning and execution. It will be a key part of your role that you understand and generate engineering drawings as with working knowledge of fluid mechanical systems. An appreciation/understanding of electro / mechanical device design, e.g. power generation / battery design is desirable. A detailed understanding and knowledge of quality management systems / document control. You should understand the application of fluid/thermo, mechanical, controls & electrical knowledge to the investigation of problems and the definition of cost-effective solutions. Knowledge of quality management systems / document control is essential as with an understanding of basic reliability and statistical analysis methods, and an ability to apply them to design of experiments.
Essential personal abilities: Able to lead significant project of work, with direction of others to aid its completion, whilst reporting to end customer with major feedback. Able to integrate, focus and inspire a highly diverse and cross-cultural team.
You should be able to undertake moderate amounts of Japanese and international travel
