Job Description

Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Operators x2

Situated: Yeovil, Somerset

NOTE Please do not apply if you do not have NDT experience....

Contract Duration: 2 months+ (Currently until March 31st 2012 with possible extension there after depending on work load)

Hour Rate: TBC

Requirement within the Repair Centre for the position of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Operator reporting to the Production Supervisor working as part of a shift team.

Main responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Flaw detection on High Value Components covering:

  • Magnetic Particle Inspection (Flaw Detect) 100% inspection of all components to ensure no flaws within the material.

  • Penetrant Flaw Detect 100% inspection of all components to ensure no flaws within the material

  • Eddy Current

  • Nital Etch 100% Inspection of all components to ensure there are no Temper and Re-hardening machine burns present in the component.


For Nital Etch, Eddy Current, Penetrant and Magnetic Particle Inspection, there is a requirement to have an annual assessment carried out by the NDT level 3 and to pass an eye test carried out by the occupational Health dept.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous NDT experience is a must. Candidates WILL NOT be considered otherwise

  • Aeronautical or Mechanical background

  • Time served Apprenticship

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

  • Attention to detail and conscientious

  • Flexible, with the ability to work on own initiative or as part of a small team

  • Willingness to become involved with improvement teams and activities.

  • Willing to undertake training to improve competence levels in support of departmental activities


Please Note - This contract role is for a MOD company so SC security clearance will be required, DV preferred or you should be eligible to apply for SC
